The TP-Link Smart Switch with Energy Monitoring is a compact module designed to turn conventional lights, appliances and electrical circuits into smart devices. The Tapo S110E allows remote control through the Tapo app, voice assistants and compatible platforms, making it a practical choice for upgrading existing electrical installations.

This module works with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and supports Matter, Apple Home, Alexa, Google Assistant, Samsung SmartThings and IFTTT. It is intended for new smart home installations or domotic upgrades, not as a specific spare part, and is especially useful for installers who need remote control, scheduling and automation scenes in residential or small professional projects.

The Tapo S110E supports both wet contact and dry contact modes, so it can be used with powered electrical loads as well as potential-free contact systems. This makes it suitable for automating lighting, sockets, boilers, garage doors, heating systems or irrigation, always within the electrical limits specified by the manufacturer.

In addition, it offers energy monitoring in wet contact mode with AC input, scheduling, auto-off timer and Bluetooth control without Wi-Fi for setup or reconnection through the Tapo app. It can be combined with other Domotics solutions or Smart Plugs to expand a connected installation.

Example 1. Smart control of a centralized heating boiler:

A single-family home has an old oil-fired boiler activated by a traditional wall thermostat that works by closing a circuit, also known as dry contact. By installing the Tapo S110E directly on the boiler’s control terminal block, the module acts as the main switch for the system. Thanks to its Matter compatibility, the relay can be linked to Tapo temperature sensors placed in different rooms; when the home’s average temperature drops below 19 °C, the module closes the circuit to turn the heating on, and automatically switches it off when it reaches 21 °C, helping optimize fuel consumption without replacing the boiler.

Example 2. Lighting or electrical load control with energy monitoring:

In wet contact mode, the TP-Link Tapo S110E smart switch module can be used to control lights, sockets or electrical appliances within the load limits specified by the manufacturer. In this mode, with AC input, it provides energy monitoring, scheduling and remote management from Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, SmartThings or the Tapo app.
