Fermax 5197 PROX Resistant Standalone Proximity Reader

The Fermax 5197 standalone proximity reader is an anti-vandal access control solution designed for buildings, offices and restricted areas where secure and convenient door access is required without traditional keys. It can manage up to 1,000 users, making it suitable for both professional installations and access control projects with a large number of authorised users.

Its main advantage is the built-in controller, allowing the reader to operate as a standalone access control system without requiring a computer or remote control unit for normal operation. It supports EM and MIFARE proximity technologies, with a card reading distance of 2–6 cm. The controller provides two access modes: single-card access and Multi-card access, requiring between 2 and 9 valid credentials before the door can be opened.

Part of the Fermax Resistant range, this reader combines a slim 103 × 48 × 20 mm design with IP67 environmental protection and IK09 impact resistance. Its operating temperature range from -40 °C to +60 °C makes it particularly suitable for installers working on demanding access points, including outdoor locations. The Fermax 5197 is intended for new access control installations or system extensions, rather than being a replacement part.

In short, the Fermax 5197 provides a compact and robust way to manage up to 1,000 users using proximity credentials. The installation can be completed with a MIFARE proximity card or a MIFARE proximity key fob, providing convenient credentials for different types of users.
