The Televes 237606 Overlight converts electrical TV signals from a WideBand LNB and terrestrial FM/DAB/UHF bands into an optical signal, allowing terrestrial and satellite television to be carried over a single fibre. A professional solution designed to simplify communal networks while taking advantage of fibre optic TV distribution.
It operates within the Overlight system, with a terrestrial input from 47 to 694 MHz and WideBand V/H satellite inputs from 290 to 2340 MHz. Its 9 dBm optical output power enables passive distribution to up to 64 users, while optical amplification can extend the system to as many as 512 users. It is intended for new installations and headend upgrades and is not a dedicated replacement part for another device.
Its 1510 nm CWDM output can be multiplexed with other compatible transmitters, making it possible to distribute up to 4 complete satellites plus terrestrial TV over a single optical fibre. It also provides 18 dB gain and adjustable equalisation up to 12 dB on the satellite inputs, particularly useful for installers working with antennas located far from the headend. Bluetooth connectivity and ASuite make system configuration and monitoring easier.
Overall, the Televes 237606 optical transmitter provides a scalable solution for communal installations requiring terrestrial and satellite TV distribution with low losses and immunity to interference. The network can be completed with Overlight optical receivers at the reception points and fibre optic splitters to distribute the optical signal across different branches.
Example 1. Optical Distribution in a Building at Playa de la Misericordia (Málaga):
In the high-rise residential buildings located along Playa de la Misericordia in Málaga, television signal distribution using traditional coaxial cable proved impractical due to significant signal losses on the lower floors and signal saturation on the upper floors. To solve this issue, the Televés Overlight 237606 optical transmitter was installed. This device converts DTT and satellite signals into a laser light signal at a wavelength of 1510 nm. Thanks to its 9 dBm optical output power and the extremely low attenuation of fiber-optic cable, the signal can be distributed vertically throughout the building's 20 floors with excellent uniformity, ensuring the same picture quality on the lower floors as in the penthouses. At the same time, the infrastructure remains ready for the future addition of more satellite signals without modifying the existing cabling.
Example 2. Multi-satellite distribution using CWDM technology:
In installations requiring several satellite positions, the 1510 nm output can be combined with compatible CWDM transmitters operating at other wavelengths. This architecture allows up to four complete satellites and terrestrial TV services to be carried through a single optical fibre, reducing the amount of cabling required and making more efficient use of the existing fibre infrastructure.
