Surmedia SMK6009 CAT6 Outdoor Black CCA UTP Cable, 305 m

The Surmedia SMK6009 is a CAT6 UTP outdoor cable designed for deploying LAN networks in homes, industrial buildings, professional facilities and outdoor areas. It is supplied in a 305-metre pull box with an internal plastic reel.

It features four twisted pairs, rigid 0.55 mm CCA conductors, HDPE insulation, an internal cross separator and a black polyethylene outer jacket. Its declared transmission parameters reach 250 MHz, supporting Ethernet links of up to 1 Gbps, subject to correct termination and field testing.

This cable is intended for new installations, network extensions and cabling upgrades, rather than as a product-specific spare part. It is suitable for connecting network equipment or carrying data from locally powered IP cameras using compatible CAT6 RJ45 connectors.

Because it uses CCA conductors, it is not recommended for PoE, PoE+ or PoE++, or for links requiring certification under standards that specify solid copper conductors. A solid-copper CAT6 outdoor cable should be selected when IP cameras or wireless access points must receive power through the network cable.

Extended information about the Surmedia SMK6009 CAT6 Outdoor Black CCA UTP Cable, 305 m

Practical applications of the Surmedia SMK6009 outdoor CAT6 UTP cable

Example 1: Extending a network between two areas of an industrial building

An installer can use the Surmedia SMK6009 cable to extend a LAN between an industrial building and a nearby annex through a protected outdoor conduit. The link length, terminations and transmission performance should be tested on site. Fibre optic cabling should be considered where electrical isolation between buildings is required or copper cabling distances could be exceeded.

Example 2: Data connection for outdoor IP cameras

In a video surveillance system, this cable can carry data from IP cameras installed on façades, roofs or poles when the devices have an independent local power supply. Its black PE jacket and pull-box packaging simplify outdoor cable runs. A standards-compliant solid-copper cable should be selected for cameras powered through PoE.

Package contents of the Surmedia SMK6009 outdoor CAT6 UTP cable
